Segment No. 064b -- Mk. 4:26-29

Title:  The Parable of the Seed

4:26   And He said, “The Kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground.”
4:27   “And should sleep by night and rise up by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not k now how.”
4:28  “For the earth yields crops by itself; first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head.”
4:29   “But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

This second parable is a parable of the seed growing of itself.  The point of this parable is that the seed will spring to life mysteriously under its own power.  It is the mystery of regeneration.  The seed we know from the first parable is the Gospel.  This is the key to understanding all the others.  It is the simple Gospel of Yeshua dying for our sins, being buried, and then rising again.

It is the Gospel of Yeshua that has power to change lives all by itself.  It needs no help from man, other than we help with the planting.  The Lord graciously also allows us to participate in the harvest.  But, it is His Word that changes lives and produces the harvest.
