Segment No. 075 -- Mt. 14:34-36; Mk. 6:53-56

Title:  The Reception at Gennesaret

Mt. 14:34   And they departed from over the sea, and came to the land of Gey N’sar.
Mk. 6:53   When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret and anchored there.

Mt. 14:35a   And the men of that place, when they knew it,
Mk. 6:54   And when they came out of the boat, immediately the people recognized Him,

Mt. 14:54b   Sent into all the land, and brought to Him all that were in an evil state.
Mk. 6:55   Ran through that whole surrounding region, and began to carry about on beds those who were sick to wherever they heard He was.

Mt. 14:36   And beseched Him that they might touch the tzitzit of His garment, and as many as touched were delivered.
Mk. 6:56   Wherever He entered into villages, cities, or the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the border of His garment.  And as many as touched Him were made well.

There is one extremely important point for this segment.  According to Malachi 4:2 when the Sun of Righteousness (Messiah) came, He would have healing in His “wings” (tzitzit).  This is another very clear indication that the common people of the land (Am haEretz) were accepting Him as the Messiah.  Notice also that them touching the “hem” of His garment was a very deliberate act to touch a particular part of His clothing, not just a desperate act just to touch Him anywhere.  Please refer to segment #067 for a more indepth explanation for this.
