Segment No. 064f -- Mt. 13:36-43

Title:  Explanation of the Parables

Mt. 13:36  Then Jesus sent the multitudes away and went into a house.  And His disciples came to Him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.”

Mt. 13:37   He answered and said to them, “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man.”
Mt. 13:38  “The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the Kingdom, and the tares are the sons of the wicked one.”
Mt. 13:39   “The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels.”

It is important to notice that the word used here for age simply means a specified period of time.  It cannot be translated as “world.”  The age that is very probably being talked about here is the Seventy Weeks of Daniel.  This age will come to an end with the fall of Masada in 73 C.E.

Mt. 13:40   “Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned, so it will be at the end of the age.”
Mt. 13:41   “The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His Kingdom all things that offend and those who practice lawlessness.”
Mt. 13:42   “And will cast them into the furnace of fire.  There will be wailing and gnashing of   teeth.”
Mt. 13:43   “Then the righteous will show forth as the sun in the Kingdom of their Father.  He who has an ear, let him hear.”

Notice again that it is the wicked who are gathered first, not the righteous in some type of pre-tribulation rapture.  If you really get into the Word of God and put it into its proper context, this type of teaching cannot be found anywhere in the Word of God.  In fact, the implication here is that the righteous remain in the Kingdom of God.  Yeshua says that the wicked will be gathered out of it so that the righteous might shine as the sun.  Nothing is said about gathering the righteous out of His Kingdom.  Once again it becomes clear that we need to put our church doctrine books down and get back to see what the Word of God says.
