Segment no. 064i -- Mt. 13:47-50

Title:  The Parable of the Net

Mt. 13:47   “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some of every kind.
Mt. 13:48   “Which, when it is full, they drew near to the shore; and they sat down and gathered the good into vessels, but threw the bad away.”
Mt. 13:49   “So it will be at the end of the age.  The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just.”
Mt. 13:50   “And cast them into the furnace of fire.  There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”

Notice again the picture Yeshua gives for the judgment to come at the end of the age.  First of all, the age being spoken of here is the Seventy Weeks of Daniel.  The word used here for age gain means a specified period of time, not the world as some try to interpret it.  This age will end with the fall of Masada in 73 C.E.  According to this parable, as in others, there is not a separate gathering of the righteous and the wicked with a time span in between.  In fact, if you look closely at Yeshua’s words, you will notice that it is the wicked who are gathered first, not the righteous.
